Dear Parishioners and Staff,
As you may be aware, Fr. Ferdinand has been anticipating his yearly January visit to his home in Nigeria. He tested for COVID-19 as a requirement for his flight and his test today returned positive. He is asymptomatic, feels perfectly well, but will quarantine pending negative test results.
Fr. Hilario and I have both tested as well because of proximity to Fr. Ferdinand and have both tested negative for COVID-19. However, because of the easy transmission of the virus, please be aware that we will continue to stream all services at St. John’s and encourage you to continue to practice appropriate COVID-19 protocols and stay safe and healthy. Specifically, if you have any symptoms, please remember that it is an act of charity to refrain from attending Mass in person. Also, should any of the clergy we rely on for Masses become ill or test positive, we will do our best to cover for them, but we may need to employ communion services in their place, and we ask for your continued prayers for all our ministers and people during this heightened time of vulnerability.
Please refer to our larger COVID -19 update document soon to appear on FlockNotes or our website which provides details on our COVID-19 protocols now in effect.
Continued blessings for a healthy and safe New Year.
Peace.
Fr. Gerry Bowen
